Another Room Painted

Aimee is on fire! She has now painted the bedroom. The old paint was an off white & maybe had a small shade of pink in it. With the accent wall being red it made the room look totally pink so Aimee decided to fix that with a Belgium Sweet Brown by Behr. The ceiling fan is going to have to go & I'm thinking we will need some updated matching bedroom furniture.

Living Room

We picked up the new living room furniture this morning (Thanks Mike & Cindi for your help!). Here are a couple pictures of the living room. Both ends of the love seat & couch recline and we have the matching recliner up in the loft.

Next on the to do list is painting the master bedroom and a backsplash for the kitchen.

Raising Cane's

The Raising Cane's at hwy 42 & 77 just opened so Aimee and I had to check it out. It's an easy menu since they only serve chicken fingers. Now these are not the kind of chicken fingers you find at KFC or Mc D's that are under heat lamps all day. Raising Cane's has no heat lamps, the chicken is freshly cooked to order and never frozen. Also they use peanut oil which has no trans fats and lower cholesterol.

I ordered the number 1 & Aimee got the number 2. Before we even got our food we were satisfied. Why you ask? They have those small pea sized ice cubes for your drinks. You know the ones that look like little hail pellets. It took about 4 minutes for our food which is still fast for freshness. The chicken fingers were awesome! They actually looked like chicken strips unlike some other restaurants. The dipping sauce called Cane's sauce had a pepper/mustard flavor that complimented the chicken fingers really well. They give you the crinkle fries which were really good. The KFC coleslaw is still better but Cane's isn't that far behind. The only draw back was the price but it's well worth it!

I would have to give Raising Cane's a 10 out of 10. We will be back and KFC you better watch out because there's a new kid in town and I have a feeling they are going to kick your ass.

You Stink Like Curry!

There are a lot of people from India that work at Best Buy, mostly in I.S.. I realize that some Indians (dot not feather) do not wear deodorant as it is against their religion. I totally understand and accept this is part of their culture but DAMN! I was getting ready to hop on the elliptical machine and I could smell the lady next to me 3 machines down! There's nothing better than working out and picking up a whiff of nasty body odour. Just do everyone a favor and put on a quick swipe of deodorant. I never worked out so fast as I did today. Luckily half way through my work out she left and got on the treadmill.

Speaking of religion, I was having lunch with my Manager and we were looking at this guy at another table staring at his forehead. We kept on thinking why aren't the other people at his table telling him he has a smudge on his forehead. It almost looked like a bruise. While I was working out I realized that today was Ash Wednesday. I had a taco salad with ground beef. To hell I go.

IMDB 247 Mulholland Dr. (2001)

Mulholland Dr. - Very, very, very, very, very ,very odd movie. The movie is nuttier than squirrel turds. I'm not really understanding the appeal of this movie. Naomi Watts, whom you might remember from the movies The Ring & King Kong, plays Hollywood hopeful actress Betty Elms/Diane Selwyn. The movie jumps all over the place and you can't tell where the movie begins or ends. I would have to watch this movie another 10 times to understand what in the hell is going on. The movie starts off extremely slow and takes a long time bringing it back to make the connections at the end.

Weekend Update

Chevy & HOM please stop with your annoying President's day sale commercials. Every 3rd commercial I hear, "Da Da Dada Da..." PUKE! I'm going to have nightmares about Chevy, GMC & Buick vehicles. HOM it's time to update your 5 year old commercials. "Washington wore a wig, wigs are called rugs, and rugs are on sale at HOM". Don't CARE! Stop the insanity!

In other news Aimee just finished painting the small bathroom. It turned out great with a new coat of paint and that wallpaper boarder gone. It's pretty damn bright right now but once it dries it will get a little darker. Next on the project list is a backsplash in the kitchen and paint & tile the master bathroom. Don't worry Corey I still have wood floors on the list. I just have to wait for some tax return money for that project :)

The living room is starting to come together. We will be getting the new furniture on Saturday. I just ordered a Ken Hildrew print called Sparkling Field off of Allposters.com to hang above the couch that will tie in the wall color. We also have to head over to HOM (I still hate your commercials) to pick up a few accent pillows for the couch & love seat. Once we get done with that we might need to address the TV stand and/or new TV (I wish). It's nice to see each room getting its own theme.

IMDB 248 Dial M For Murder (1954)

Dial M For Murder - Alfred Hitchcock, Grace Kelly, & Ray Milland, you can't go wrong. The Hitchcock murder thriller sucks you in from the beginning and you just end up watching it in aww. Dial M For Murder was like watching a 50's CSI with out those crazy David Caruso one liners & sun glasses. All of the acting was very good, some of Grace Kelly's lines did get a little over theatrical but over all I enjoyed this old classic.

Update: Jackets Hate Me

I went over to REI this afternoon....CRAZY! I knew they were having a clearance sale but I didn't realize that you save 50% on any clearance item ending in 83 cents. The line was about 50 people deep and took 20 minutes to get through it. I have to first say that REI has the best customer service and a great return policy. They asked me what was wrong with my old jacket and I explained the issue. I was given store credit to search for a new jacket. I ended up with an Arc'Teryx Fission AR jacket. It was on clearance with $140 off! I couldn't pass it up. It is warm, has a hood & is water & wind proof.

Tater Tot Hotdish

I'm currently enjoying some left over tater tot hotdish that Aimee made last night. It tastes good, eh! What a great wife to make her man a tasty meal such as this. BTW I broke your tupperware.

I would also like to add that Tater Tots are da bomb and should be eaten with every meal. They should be apart of the food pyramid.

Sleepy....zzZzz...zzZz...

I am frickin' tired today. Hopefully a Diet Mountain Dew will wake me up a little bit with it's sweet nectar of caffeine. Now that the holiday shopping season and Super Bowl XLI is in the past we (Best Buy) have finally simmered down the advertising of home audio and video products. Throughout this stretch we were averaging 15-20 pages of the insert dedicated to A/V which in turn means more work for me since these are my categories. Now we are down to about 8 pages which makes life much easier for me and a much needed break. Since the new Windows Vista launched Business Minded (computers) have taken on the burden of carrying the insert.

What's The Guff Chet?!

Round 1: Last year I purchased a nice new Mountain Hardwear Sub-Zero down jacket. Things were going good until I noticed that the fabric that the jacket was made out of would soak up skin oil and discolor the jacket around the neck line. I called Mountain Hardwear's customer service and they said to wash it & then spray it with some DWR. Me not so happy. I returned it to REI for a full refund.

Round 2: I pick out a North Face jacket. I had the North Face jacket for the remainder of the winter and it was OK but not meeting my standards so I sold it on eBay.

Round 3: I did some research and looked at new jackets for a week and finally found one that I liked, The North Face Falcon Stretch Shell Jacket. It was fully seam-taped, water proof, light liner which made it warm yet breathable and it fit just right. I really like this jacket and have owned it for about 3 months. Yesterday I was ready to put the jacket on and noticed that under the sleeves by the arm pits the fabric was starting to pill up. What's the guff Chet? Do manufactures even test their products anymore? I really like this jacket but I don't want to exchange it for the same thing if this is going to happen again. So I'm not sure what I'm going to do. Should I exchange it for the same one or search again for another jacket? I might give North Face customer service a call to see if this was just a defect.

Update: Round 4: I contacted North Face, no known defect and they wanted me to sent it in to them. Since I would not like to freeze my nutz off for the remainder of the winter, I will be bringing it back to REI to be exchanged.

Oh My Head Hurts

Sunday morning my head hurt so lets hit the rewind button on life's VHS player and look back to why this would have happened. Saturday was the monthly guys poker night which was hosted by Corey. I purchased some Tilburg's Dutch Brown Ale for the drink of choice for this lovely occasion. I drank 5 Tilburg's in little over 2 hours and it was on to the Fat Tire to consume. With this beautiful mixture of malt, hops & yeast along with some jalapeno pretzel snacks & cigar smoke looming in the air it made my stomach feel not so good. Typically after I drink too much my system just shuts down and I fall asleep. Saturday night was a different story. As we pulled up to James's house I decided to open up the passenger door and begin to puke a couple times. This would be the first time I have ever puked because of alcoholic beverages. I feel shame. Due to the below zero temperatures this display in lack of judgement is in the middle of the road for passerby’s to see.

IMDB 249.5 Inherit the Wind (1960)

Inherit the Wind - Only one word can express my thoughts about this movie, SUCK. The acting is way over the top and too theatrical. The only bright spot was Spencer Tracy's performance.

4 out of 10 stars.
