FLASHBACK!!
I was thumbing through next weeks Best Buy insert and I came across some old Disney movies like Pete's Dragon and The Sword in the Stone which reminded me of cartoon short I used to watch all the time on the Disney Channel called Little Hiawatha.

Buffalo, NY
Last weekend Aimee and I flew out to Buffalo, NY (and man are my arms tired) to see our niece Lexi in a semi-professional play called Madeline's Christmas. The play was at the Theatre of Youth in downtown Buffalo, NY. I'm very proud of Lexi as she did a fantastic job playing Camille. Maybe some more plays for in the future? Who knows maybe Broadway?
OK you can not go to Buffalo and not have some chicken wings. The place to go to is Duff's where Medium is Hot, Medium Hot is Very HOT and Hot is VERY, VERY HOT!! AWESOME WINGS! It would put BW3's to shame. Heck it would put BW3's out of business.
This is how you rock out in Buffalo! We don't mess around with our Rock Band!
Enjoying some beverages.
Niagara River just before the falls.
Canada, eh. We went over to Canada for a little bit. Nothing much to see there.
Take a look.
This is the observation deck on the U.S. side where you freeze your butt off in the winter. TONS of Japanese tourists snapping pictures.
Niagara Falls from the U.S. side. on the right is Canada.
Aimee and I freezing on the observation deck.
Lexi in her red coat for the play. They had a photo session for parents to take pictures at the end of the play. It was hard to snap any good pictures with the way the lighting was setup. Once again I wish I had a Canon 40D (or 50D) to get these shots.

It's Not A Tumor!!
Wait it is! Poor little Zoey has a histiocytoma which is a benign tumor that is fairly common in young dogs. It will eventually go away in 2-3 months. If it doesn't go away it will need to be removed.

The Hat
This is my hat. There are many like it but this one is mine. My hat is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my hat is useless. Without my hat I am useless. I must wear my hat true. I must wear it straighter than my enemy, who is trying to scare me. I must scare him before he scares me. I will. Before God I swear this creed: my hat and myself are defenders of my country, we are the masters of our enemy, we are the saviors of my life. So be it, until there is no enemy, but peace. Amen.
WCHA Hockey Weekend
James, Pete, Kris and I got back yesterday from our guys WCHA Hockey Weekend. This was our 5th year and this year we kept it close to home driving up to St Cloud to see the Huskies play Mankato. Just to review past arenas we have gone to: Duluth, North Dakota, Wisconsin, and Michigan Tech. Beer and Hockey, how can you go wrong? Our seats for the game were right behind the Huskies bench. It was a cool experience to be right behind the bench and feel the intensity of the game. Only down fall was watching the game on the far side of the rink and looking through 3 panes of glass once the puck was down on our side of the rink. I thought the National Hockey Center was pretty nice, nothing fancy but it got the job done. I don’t think anything will top Ralph Engelstad Arena in North Dakota. The game was riddled with fights! I think Mankato was getting extremely frustrate towards the end of the game being down 5 to 2. With about 5 minutes left we started to hear the student section yell out “FREE WINGS! FREE WINGS!” We then found out if the Huskies score 6 goals everyone in the arena gets 6 free wings from Buffalo Wild Wings. With about 58 seconds left the Huskies scored their 6th goal! On our way home we stopped at BW3’s and had our free wings. I'll post up some pics once I get them from James. Next year we go to Colorado in Pete's GMC Safari.

Well, it's... A leg, you know, like a statue
12 reasons that A Christmas Story is a modern Classic!
12: "Deck the halls with boughs of horry, ra ra ra ra ra, ra ra ra ra"
11: "Don't forget to drink your Ovaltine"
10: "Nadafinga!!"
9: Ralphie's pink bunny outfit
8: Scut Farkus' yellow eyes
7: "Fuuuuuuuudddggee"
6: "Randy...how do the little piggies eat?"
5: "Fra-gee-lay. That must be Italian"
4: "Where's the glue?" "We're out of glue!" "You used up all the glue on purpose!!"
3: "I triple-dog dare ya!"
2: "Alright, I'll get that kid to eat. Where's my screw driver and my plumber's helper? I'll open up his mouth and I'll shove it in"

All Is Good In Da Hood
Aimee went in for her check up this morning and all is good with Baby B. She has an ultrasound appointment on Dec. 23rd where we will soon discover if Baby B is a He or a She. I'm excited to find out what we are having and also to start getting Baby B's room ready.
Aimee and I went down to Hampton Hills Tree Farm on Sunday and cut down a 7 ft fraser fir. I think last year we had a Balsam Fir. As long as the needles stay on the tree and there isn't any large gaps in the branches, I'm good. It's seemed like the tree selection was a little scarce. Most of the trees still standing were 3-5 ft range and looked like Charlie Brown tree. For $35 bucks you can't go wrong considering the tree lots in the cities sell thems for $80-90 bucks. We want to get a fake tree at the end of the season but I'm a little unsure about getting one since I really like the real trees. Of course we have been talking about getting a fake tree for the past 3 years so I'm sure this year will be the same result as in years past.
Work is good. Getting into the busy holiday season. It seemed that Black Friday was a success as there were 400 people in line at the Apple Valley store last Friday. Crazy MFer's. I personally didn't see any good deals that caught my eye. I know Mike N. always wonders what I do at Best Buy. I'm a Promotional Pricing Planner...that's what I do. Before that our title was a Pricing Support Analyst, before that it was a Tactical Pricing Analyst and before that we were just Pricing Analysts. We like to rework our job discription to keep up with the times. I basically make sure that what is in the Sunday insert is correct in the system and online.
Oh I'm a chatty Cathy today, lets continue. So the biking season has pretty much come to an end. I don't have any winter gear and don't really feel the need to freeze my jingle bells off winter riding. I was pretty happy with this years riding season. I hit the trails 3-5 times a week and Lebanon Hills seemed to be my trail of choice. I would have gone to Murphy Hanrehan more often but with the gas prices hitting $4 a gallon I stayed closer to home. I also go in over 40hrs of volunteer time so with that Best Buy cuts a check to MORC for $1,000. Since I'm not biking in the winter that means I have to hit the gym to keep my beer belly to a minimum over the winter months. 45 minutes on the elliptical and some arm lifting usually does the trick. My goal is to go 4 times a week. We'll have to see about that.
That's about all I have. X-Mas list is HERE and updated daily.

Thank You MNDOT
...for finally completing the 76th street bridge over I-35W. For the past 4 months my drive to work has sucked. Bike lane feature - "The new 76th Street Bridge will provide a pedestrian/bike trail that connects to a regional trail planned along 75th Street on the west side of 35W and to 76th Street on the east side of 35W. The new regional trail will be built as part of the metro sewer project in 2009 to 2011". Some day when the old Cedar bridge is fixed I might be able to bike into work.
MNDOT also ripped up the east ramp to Lyndale by REI. They appear to be replacing the sewers as well. Tax money well spent to rip down that HUGE retaining wall to replace a sewer and then reconstruct it.
Since we are on the subject has anyone see that new bus lane going north on HWY 77 after HWY 62? Instead of the buses using the clover leaf they will get in the left hand lane and cross over HWY 77 south and head up the HWY 62 west ramp. How do they get passed the flow of traffic going south on HWY 77 you ask. A stop light. Let the congestion begin!

Halloween
Last night was Eric's Halloween bash. Aimee went as a pregnant nun and I went as Bull Hurley from the movie Over The Top. As usual Eric's costume was over the top. He made this costume from scratch.
I present Eric as Gene Simmons
We had a great time playing speed quarters and hammerschlagen . Plus you can never go wrong hanging out with good friends and throwing back a few brews. I have some more pictures HERE.

What I am rocking out to
I'm rocking out to my iPod Halloween Killer Playlist. I put together a playlist for James's Halloween party on Nov. 1st. I have everything from some 80's Beastie Boys, Def Leopard, AC/DC to some obscure 80's hits such as Billy Squier, Ram Jam, and Bowie. I also mixed in some new stuff so it will be a rockin' time. If you have any recommendations post up. The songs need to be upbeat, I don't want some depressing 80's ballads from White Lion or Winger.

Losing My Mind
I was meeting up with Petey today for a urban road ride around Minneapolis. I stopped by the US Bank ATM on the way up to his place to grab a few bucks. All was good or so I thought. We bike up to The Hub Bike CO-OP to pick up some odds and ends for my bike. I opened up my wallet to pay when I discover that I forgot my check card in the ATM. DOH! So I used my Visa, called US Bank to cancel my check card and send me a new card. Petey and I ride up to Pizza Luce for some lunch/dinner. We devoured a 16" bear pizza, this pizza would make a vegan cry. Once again I open up my wallet to pay and I forgot my Visa at The Hub (or the slow ass guy behind the counter forgot to give it back to me). We trekked back and picked up the card on the ride home. It was a great ride and a nice change of pace taking a road ride.

Check out this beauty bike. I know you are jealous! OK it's nothing special but it will get the job done. I got the bike from Jason and added a Topeak rear rack along with some Banjo Brothers rear grocery panniers. I took a trip to Target and Apple Valley Liquors and it worked flawlessly.

The Final Countdown
Kris, James and I went up to Kris's family cabin again last weekend. The last shindig of the summer...err fall. We arrived with minimal food and an abundance of beer. Maybe a little too much beer for 3 people if there is such a thing. We did some fishing on Friday and did pretty well except James, he got skunked, zero fish for him. After fishing it was domino time and time to make a dent in our beer inventory. We ended up drinking a total of 51 beers that day. Also once again I won in dominoes.
Saturday we woke up around 8am and Kris made some awesome Swedish pancakes. We packed up the boat and headed out. We did very well fishing and James even caught some fish. The biggest fish of the weekend was a 32" northern pike that I caught. We spent the majority of the day on the boat fishing. After a long day on the boat we were starving so we went back to the cabin to grill up some burgers and start a bonfire. Then as we always do, it was game on for dominoes. Not to rub it in but I won. That's 4 games in a row, the only 4 times I have ever played dominoes.
We had beautiful fall weather Friday and Saturday. We drank over 90 beers in 2 days (no beer drinking Sunday). It was a great time. Hopefully next summer we can get some more peeps up to the cabin then we can bring up our boat and have a little fishing contest. Click HERE to see more pictures.

Duck Hunt
37 dead ducks were found around the drainage pond next to our house. Story here. Knowing the neighborhood, I wouldn't be surprised if the same kids that found the ducks also killed them. I guess we will have to wait for Dakota County to analyze them until we find out an answer.

PETA, You're Udderly Ridiculous
Check out this article.
"PETA wants world-famous Ben & Jerry's Homemade Ice Cream to tap nursing moms, rather than cows, for the milk used in its ice cream."
"People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is asking the ice cream maker to begin using breast milk in its products instead of cow's milk, saying it would reduce the suffering of cows and calves and give ice cream lovers a healthier product."
"If Ben and Jerry's replaced the cow's milk in its ice cream with breast milk, your customers — and cows — would reap the benefits"
So all you prego moms out there get ready to attach your boobies to some pumps because we don't want to hurt those lazy cows. Instead of giving breast milk to your own child so they can grow up big and strong, you can just sell it to B&J to put in their ice cream for others. Doesn't that sound delicious?

Urban Assault Ride
What an exhausting day but definitely a fun one. Aimee and I competed in the New Belgium Brewing Urban Assault Ride today. The race started at 9am sharp. Starting point was the Freewheel Bike shop off of the green way in Minneapolis. We first biked to lake Harriet to find out first mystery clue which will lead us to One on One bikes but on the way north we stopped at the Chipotle at Calhoun Commons for our first checkpoint challenge. We had to limbo at three heights while riding our bikes. Not too hard of a challenge as we were finished in matter of minutes. After that we head back on the green way on our way to Peace Coffee next to hwy 55. This was the best challenge out of all we did. This was the big wheel race. We did two laps all while skidding out around every turn. Next checkpoint was the Freewheel bikes off of Cedar. For this challenge we had to put on oven mitts and pick up bottle caps while the staff is soaking us with water cannons. After we biked to One on One and then to first ave. At this point it was 11:15am and we only had 45 minutes left so we decided to skip the REI in Bloomington checkpoint along with the Penn Cycles off of Penn in Richfield. We instead biked back to the finish so we could do the final challenge which was one of those giant inflatable obstical courses you would find at a county fair. After the ride we were treated to free Chipotle and free BEER!! I had a couple glasses of Fat Tire and of 1554. The best over all time was around 1hr and 39 minutes and for their effort they won 2 New Belgium Brewing bikes.
Here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure.

Urban Assault
I'm getting giddy for the Urban Assault ride on Sunday. From what I hear this will be the largest Urban Assault ride for any first time city with over 400 registered riders. Among those registered are Aimee and I, Kris and Pete and some of Aimee's coworkers. You start and finish at Freewheel Bikes in Minneapolis and you ride to 8 checkpoints within 3 hours. These checkpoints have crazy contests for the riders to participate in. One of the checkpoints is the REI in Bloomington so I think this ride will be over 30 miles. I'm going to throw the 17t cog and some flats on the 29er before the event. It should be a great time rain or shine.
BTW MORBID celebrated its first birthday. Get ready for the terrible twos because we should be kicking some ass in our second year of existence.
