Aimee's cousin Shanna was having her wedding reception down in Lake Benton this weekend so we decided to make the drive down to the reception and stay with Aimee's Grandma for the night. On the way down we drove through New Ulm so at the last minute we stopped at the Schell Brewery. We didn't take the tour but we did hit up the gift shop. They had all kinds of sweet Schell Brewery & Grain Belt gear. Aimee purchased a bunch of Christmas items that were 50% off and I picked up a Billy Buck, Bock Fest Bobby and Fred the Peacock bobblehead. I'm not at all a fan of bobbleheads but these bobbleheads were pretty damn cool looking plus they only made 1000 of each. Some day when I have a bar they will look nice behind it but for now they will lay dormant in their boxes until that day comes.
We arrived at Grandmas around 4pm, settled in and then went to the reception which was at the Lake Benton American Legion. We talked to some of Aimee's older relatives on the Nordmeyer side and had a few minutes to see Shanna. Shanna got married in Mexico so this reception was for all of the family & friends that were unable to make the trip.
The next day we went over to Aunt Helen's to visit. She looked like she was doing very well. We also took a tour of the HUGE (sarcasm) town of Tyler which is where Grandma lives (Lake Benton is 7 miles down the road). Aimee had to show me this head stone in the cemetery. Mr. Robert "Bob" Johnson had a nice head stone made with a picture of himself and his wife. The issue, they got divorced so he put a 'For Rent' sign over his wife's side of the head stone. We went back to Grandma's for some pork chops, beans and potatoes. We said our goodbyes then it was time to head home.
