Wonderful Monday Night

What do most families do on a Monday night? Maybe a family meal at the dinner table where you and your spouse talk about how each others day went. After that maybe an annoying episode of Deal or No Deal where you are ready to reach into your TV screen and suffocate Howie Mandel by removing every last breath of oxygen from his lungs. Then you fall asleep on the couch while the 10 O'clock news is blabbering in the background about all of the days tragic & depressing events. Well...that's not how we roll up in here. How about a grilled cheese sandwich for dinner. Then watch a couple episodes of The Girls Next Door followed up by expressing your dogs anal glands.

Mahtomedi What?

Frickin' FedEx! I ordered a new home theater speaker system from Klipsch and FedEx will not leave the package at my door because they need to see an ID and signature. Well frick! I'm can't just sit at home Wednesday or Thursday waiting for the FedEx guy to stop by. I called FedEx and I have to drive up to Mahtomedi for the package. In the past I only had to go to Bloomington, not sure why I have to go all the way up to Mahtomedi now. Klipsch is partially to blame for this also since they required an ID & signature. Sons of bitches!

Friday Morning Commute

When you have a sticker on your vehicle that says "Big pipes saves lives", you loose credibility (if you had any) when you drive a 1995 Ford explorer which looks like the paint resented the rest if the vehicle by peeling itself off causing what we call in Minnesota a rust bucket.

I don't want to name names but Collins Construction van, thank god you were able to speed up and merge in front of me before the left hand lane ended heading north on hwy 77. You were able to squeeze your big red shaggin' waggin' between me and another commuter this morning even though there was a 10 car gap just behind me you passed up. Congratulations you saved 38 seconds on your commute.

For every Minnesotan...Left lane fast, right lane slow. Let me rinse and repeat. LEFT LANE FAST, RIGHT LANE SLOW!!!! If you notice you are going the same speed as the vehicle to the right of you, this is a STRONG indication that you are in the WRONG lane.

Now let’s talk about merging. It is not my job to slow down or speed up to let you on a 70 mph freeway which you chose to enter at 45 mph. If you continue to choose to enter freeways at these slow speeds you will continue to ride the shoulder like a dumb ass.

White Cadillac in my rearview mirror. If I were to slam on my brakes, you would not have enough time to react and will be eating my rear bumper. As the bumper sticker saying goes "Unless your a hemorrhoid, get off my ass.".

Listening to Mudvayne on the commute to work relieves much stress.

I Have Wood...

...floors that is. Big thanks to Corey for laying down our new wood floor and letting me be the annoying newbie helper guy. It took two days to finish the job and I have to say it looks excellent. Along with the wood floors we were able to add a hearth and a surround for the fireplace. I do have a couple things to finish like the tile for the entry way & re-install the toilet but that will be finished this week. I'll be digging out sawdust boogers from my nose for the weeks to come.

Wood Session

Corey laying down the last piece to the puzzle.

Finished product!

IMDB - A Streetcar Named Desire (1951)

A Streetcar Named Desire (1951) - My synopsis: Blanche (Vivien Leigh) is a psycho hose beast whore that is a couple beers short of a six pack. Stanley (Marlon Brando) needs to take out that jawbreaker he's sucking on when he talks. You almost need a translator to understand what Stanley says. Stella (Kim Hunter) needs to give Blanche a kick in the ass. The movie was extremely slow, Vivien Leigh was horrible and just annoying to watch. Hunter was excellent in this movie along with Brando.

Dreaming of a FJ

I know, I know...Aimee needs a new car. I am fully aware of that after fixing the windshield wipers this morning...again...in 30* degree weather while snowing. I've just been day dreaming about how much fun it would be to own a Toyota FJ40. No silly not those new bulky FJ's, I'm talking the old original FJ's made in the 60's & 70's. I can just imagine owning a stock FJ and Aimee & I hitting the open road for two weeks, cruising to Glacier, Yellowstone and Teton National Park again like we did on our honeymoon. BTW this dream was inspired by THIS REI desktop wallpaper.

Reading Session...

Pain In The Jaw

Yesterday morning I was just about to enjoy my Kashi chewy granola bar. When I started to chew I could feel shooting pains on the right side of my jaw. It felt like I pulled a muscle in my jaw (pterygoideus internus is the muscle that hurts). I could talk, yawn and move my jaw just fine but once I put force on it like chewing I would feel shooting pains (it wasn't a tooth, I could feel pain when I put pressure on the muscle). After a couple of hours the right side of my face along the jaw line swelled up about three fold. I tried googling the problem but all I came up was TMJ and this was not TMJ. I did find some good stretching exercises while looking at the TMJ sites so I did a few of those and that seemed to help. The swelling did go down in an hour but was still a little tender. I took some Aleve when I got home to help with any swelling and pain. I'm feeling good today but just need to take it easy by not eating anything too hard which might retrigger the issue.

IMDB - The Ox-Bow Incident (1943)

The Ox-Bow Incident (1943) - A 1943 western, not really my cup of tea. Henry Fonda stars in this William A. Wellman western film. This movie has a good story line but lacked character development do to the movie only being 75 minutes long. You could also tell they shot this film in a studio because you could hear the voices of the actors echo against the metal walls of the movie set.

5 out of 10 stars.
