I give you Alice Cooper. He spends most of his hairband retirement on the golf course these days.

Stories From The Urinal

I thought I would start out a new series of posts of weird things people do while in the restroom at work. Here in Best Buy Corp office restrooms there is always a wall with a shelf and coat hooks for you to place your belongings. I walk up to a urinal today and behind the pipe was someone’s leather notepad. I looked around like WTF, do I just ignore it? Did someone forget it? Should I just take a leak and pretend I didn't see it? As I was looking around the guy washing his hands saw me and grabbed it. Why would you put your leather notepad behind the urinal pipe? Do you enjoy urine collecting on your belongings? Did you not notice the shelf that is in front of your face as you walk into the restroom? And why wash your hands before grabbing the urine filled notepad before you leave? What is wrong with people? Nasty! The black shaded area is where the notepad was located (BTW this was just an image google search, this is not what the restrooms look like at BBY)

What do you think they are looking at? Or for that matter text messaging?

What I am rocking out to

I don't know what it is but listening to Atreyu makes you want to break some shit. Then you want to watch The Never Ending Story. A couple note worthy songs are Bleeding Mascara & Right Side of the Bed.

Hair Band Wednesday

I wanted to keep today’s Hair Band selection more mainstream. It's one of my favorite Hair Band songs of all time. Every time I hear this song I think of the movie Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man. Mickey Rourke and Don Johnson were 100% pure B.A.M.F.'s in this flick!. If you haven't seen this movie, the song plays at the beginning.

10 Year Anniversary

I received my certificate for 10 years of dedication working for Best Buy yesterday. It's unbelievable that 10 years ago I was searching for a part time job out of high school. I applied at 3 retailers; Circuit City, Home Depot and Best Buy. Started working part time in the Merch crew at the Woodbury store on April 17th, 1998 ($8.50 and hour, sweet!). Back then Best Buy only had 300 stores and was a 7 billion dollar company. Now we have over 930 Best Buy stores, 51 stores in Canada plus 131 Future Shop stores, 1 store in China and pretty soon stores in Turkey and Mexico! On top of that we are now a 40+ billion dollar company aiming for 80B in 5 years. Back in High School we all had to take that work assessment test and it said I should be a Park Ranger. Sure a Park Ranger would be cool because of the outdoors factor but with the flexibility of my job at Best Buy it gives me the opportunity to enjoy as much of the outdoors as a I want and not have to be on a Park Rangers salary. I really enjoy my role at Best Buy right now because of the people I work with and the position plays to my strengths. So here is to another 10 years!

Is It Spring Yet?

It seems Spring has finally arrived (knock on wood). Yesterday was a little chilly but at least the sun was not hidden behind rain clouds. It was warm enough to sit out on the patio and enjoy a beer. I also pulled the boat out of the garage yesterday to make sure everything was running well. It fired up fairly quickly after its winter slumber. I cleaned the interior and purchased a couple new batteries, new rod holders and a new hand winch. I can't wait for fishing opener! It should be a great time plus my Dad will be coming this year.

With the warm weather approaching that means I need to get started on some spring projects. I'll be starting the tiling of the master bath this week. Another project is figuring out a mount for the Satellite Dish. I have a 4x4 that I plan on placing into a concrete mold and then setting it into a cedar barrel so Aimee can plan flowers around it.

I watched a few movies this weekend.
Into The Wild - Great movie! Emile Hirsch pulled it off in this movie. I was unsure that he would because of some of the other movies he has been in.
There Will Be Blood - Daniel Day-Lewis...BEST ACTOR EVER! Seriously he is the best. This is a fantastic movie.
Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story - This movie should not have been made. Horrible.

Super Saturday

Kris & I met up at Pete's for some biking fun yesterday. I got to test out my new Stumpy, unfortunately it was only on a paved road. If we get some warm dry weather I'll be able to take her out on the trail. We went from Pete's house, which is next to Lake Nokomis, down to Brits Pub for some lunch'n'beer. It was a beautiful day which allowed us to sit out on the patio. After Brits we headed over to Midwest Mountaineering. I purchases some new Merrell shoes which are extra comfortable. BTW Midwest's Outdoor Adventure Expo is april 25-27th.

While we were biking there was a whole lot of naughty going on in my house. Aimee and her coworker hosted a Tasteful Treasures party at our house. All I can say is Giggidy Giggidy, Giggidy Goo. It sounded like everyone had a great time and lots of merchandise was purchased by all.

After the treasures party Aimee drove up to Pete & Anne's and we all took the light rail downtown to check out the ARTcrank poster show. The place was packed like sardines. They are lucky the fire chief didn't show up because they would have broken a fire code with too many people in the building. There were a couple posters that I liked but that is about it. These couple prints looked good but I wouldn't have a spot to hang them. I guess I set my expectations too high for the show.

We then headed over to Pizza Luce for some delectiable pizza. Anne very much enjoyed her 16oz PBR's through a straw. After our fill of pizza we headed over to The Local. We had a couple drinks and I schooled everyone in connect 4. It was a lot of fun hanging out with everyone and can't wait to do it again!

Today Aimee and I are heading to the sports show.

Healthy Heart

Since L.A. Fitness is only a block away from our house there is no excuse for me not to go. For the past two weeks I have have been going to the gym every weeknight and taking the weekends off. I do about 45 minutes of cardio on the elliptical machine and then some arm weights. I tried the bikes but those seats get extremely uncomfortable after 20 minutes and I wanted to work more than my legs when I'm doing cardio.

Exercising is only half of the solution, I also have to eat right. I have been watching what I eat and trying to eat smaller more frequent meals. I start out with a bowl of Kashi instant oatmeal (honey cinnamon yummy) in the morning. I make a small side salad with spinach, romaine lettuce, tomato, shredded cheese and a light dressing for lunch. Along with the side salad I also make a Smart Ones which are surprisingly good plus Target has most of them for $1.99. Dinner consists of either a Smart Ones or I'll grill up some chicken and veggies. I'll have some snack in between meals like Kashi bars and fruit cups. Another thing I'm trying to avoid is soda. I use our Brita filter and fill up a 32 oz nalgene bottle to bring to work. Yeah water does get boring so I purchase some Propel packets to add to my water. The grape flavor tastes just like Kool-Aid.

The reason for doing this you ask.
1. Heart disease runs in my family.
2. I want to be in shape for our trip to Glacier National Park. With all of the hiking we will be doing, I don't want to be exhausted out on the trail.
3. Biking, biking, biking. I want to have a fun biking season. It's not much fun if you are over weight and out of shape.
4. For me.
