Hair Band Wednesday

Some spandex for your Wednesday.

Mermorial Weekend

Aimee and I got back yesterday from our Memorial Weekend vacation. We traveled to Garmisch Resort located near Cable, WI. We celebrated Mike and Cindi's 40th anniversary and 60th birthday. Aimee and I also celebrated our 5th anniversary! It was a great time and I feel like all we did was eat! So much food! I hope we get to do this again next year.

Stories From The Urinal

I just went into the restroom to do my business. I look to the right and someone is dropping the kiddies off at the pool but has also brought his newly pressed dry cleaning into the stall with him. Maybe he wanted to feel clean while making a dirty?

Weekend Edition

I was on call for work this weekend, blah! Saturday Aimee and her coworker Pam went to Lebanon Hills so I tagged along for my 5th trail ride there in the past 7 days! They seemed to have fun even though they spent most of their time girl chatting. I finally made it up the log steps and through all of the rock areas! I just need to practice the camel hump skinny that turns right into a smaller skinny. Also Aimee made it over the teeter totter and up the last hill climb!

After the bike ride we went over to the Norby's to celebrate Laynie's 3rd birfday :) That damn kid is too cute (Wyatt you're a cute little dude too!). HANNAH MONTANA! JONAS BROTHERS! HANNAH MONTANA! JONAS BROTHERS! We celebrated with a pancake dinner which was extra tasty! I would post a pic but we forgot the camera.

Sunday consisted of work in the morning and in the afternoon we met up with Pete and Anne at the Chatterbox. I really liked the place. The interior reminded me of someones basement in the 70's. They had a $3 tall glass happy hour. I had the Belgian white ale, brown ale and a wheat ale that was similar to a Blue Moon. You can also play Atari 2600 or original Nintendo. We kicked back and played some Pitfall and Frogger. After we hit up Grand Ole Creamery for some ice cream. Just for your information do not get a double scoop. I found out that a double scoop is really 6 scoops and I felt like I was going to burst only eating half of it.

Now it's Monday and back to work I go.

Fishing Opener

I am back from fishing opener! This year the fish were biting but we were unable to keep most of them because of the 17"-26" slot limit on the lakes. Dad and I ended up catching 9 walleye in about 5 hours of fishing. Dad caught the anchor line more than walleye but he still had a great time. Weather was nice on Thursday and Friday but Saturday mother nature decided to give us 38 degrees and snow. Yes SNOW! It did end around 7pm but it was still wet and cold outside. Arrived home today and I am letting everything dry out.

Beer 30, how can you go wrong? Jason found this beer at the Farmington Liquor store.

I needed to bring cans so why not some Surly.

mmm...stadium brats.

I'm not sure where this can cozy came from but I found it in my garage to keep my hands warm.

The ice was still on the lake. I believe this sets a new ice out record for the lake. The old record was May 10th, 1996.

This is what happens when you have too much to drink and find an ice berg on the lake.

BUSTED!! Mike get off that crackberry!

I found this guy on the outside of my tent. He was around 4" in length.

View of the lake shore.

Fishing Opener

I'll be heading out tomorrow morning to Cut Foot Sioux lake which is connected to lake Winnibigoshish for fishing opener. So far the weather is looking pretty good and when I say good I mean upper 50's and low 30's with no rain. I'll post some pics when I get back.

Hair Band Wednesday

Run DMC stealing the show from Aerosmith. Steven Tyler + Joe Perry + 1986 = Hair Band. Also little fun fact, Walk This Way was originally released on Aerosmith's 1975 album Toys in the Attic. It was then re-made in 1986 with rappers Run DMC and released on their album Raising Hell.

Afton Backpacking Adventure

Pete, Kris and I went to Afton State Park this weekend to test out gear before we hike the Superior Hiking Trail in June. Pete and I started out on Friday. Yes it was raining but we can't predict the weather when we hike the Superior trail. Surprisingly it wasn't that bad. We were able to put up a shelter to cook up dinner and stay out of the rain. I also got the chance to put up the Hubba Hubba in the rain which I have never done before. I stayed dry all night so it must have been a success.

Saturday the rain finally stopped around 6am. Around 10am we received a visit from the beer fairy (Scott) to which he also brought someone (can't remember his name) from Carmichael Lynch whom was doing some market research for the Sierra Nevada Brewing Co account. Free beer (Sierra Nevada and Sam Adams)!! Kris arrived around 10:30am because he thought he was going to melt in the rain the night before. After our morning beer we loaded up the backpacks with all of our gear and headed out onto the trail. We ended up hiking around 6 miles. After our hike we cheated a little. We hiked to the parking lot, jumped into Kris's Jeep and went to Taco John's for some grub. After we got back we got the fire roaring and hung out around camp.

This was our rain camp. Pete and I were able to cook up some dinner and stay dry.

Sock Monkey says the rain is gone!

Here is our camp. Pete was in the hammock, Kris and I were in the Hubba Hubba. We had site 6 which has an awesome view of the river.

Kris and Pete look lost.

View of the St. Croix river from the trail.

Pete working the Bush Buddy. This is a kick ass little stove.

FIRE!
