Good Friday Filled With Beer

Pete, Anne, Kris and I met up over at Majors Sports Cafe in Apple Valley for $.21 cent Shells FireBrick taps. They also had some 2 for 1 appetizers. Pete and Anne arrived early and got some awesome seats. Majors was rocking all of the plasma TVs with NCAA basketball. We watched a few upsets which included Siena over Vanderbilt by 20pts, San Diego over Connecticut by 1 pt in OT, Western Kentucky over Drake by 2pt in a very high scoring OT game and Villanova over Clemson. I am defiantly NOT a basketball fan. Whenever I see the NBA on TV I switch it immediately. Plus I couldn't even tell you who the #1 seed in the NCAA tournament is but it was actually kind of fun to watch college basketball. BUT I think I would only watch it again if there was nothing else on TV or at a bar.

After Majors we picked up Aimee and met James & Liz at Old Chicago. Pete schooled Kris and I at Big Buck Hunter. Pete was on his game kicking some big buck ass. Kris...well Kris played like he forgot what a buck looked like (it's the one with the antlers Kris). I don't even hunt, hell I haven't even shot a gun before yet I ended up beating Kris in both games we played.

After Old Chicago we headed home, or so we thought. We were coming up the roundabout at 153rd st and the new bar/restaurant called Panino Brothers looked like it was open so Aimee jokenley said hey lets go there. Kris decided for all of us (Kris, Aimee and I) to take the circle-O-death and go to Panino Brothers. The bar has 30 taps with mostly local brews. We talked to the owner and he said he's going to be switching the taps fairly often. He also gave us a bomber of Flat Earth Cygnus X-1 Porter for free. Another thing that was cool was the whole bar top was made from an old bowling alley lane. It was a pretty cool idea and looked great. We will be coming back to support this establishment again. It's a rare thing to see an independent bar/restaurant in the suburbs. It's like residents are scared of them so they continue to go to the Old Chicago's, Applebee's and Buffalo Wild Wings of the world meanwhile there are some great local spots that open up and don't get any support causing them to close quickly. So if you are in the neighborhood give Panino Brothers a try.

WTF?

I'm going to throw my keys at you!

As if our society couldn't get any lazier. I went to the Minneapolis/St.Paul Airport to help some coworkers with a Make-A-Wish family and what do I see? I see a police officer on a 3 wheeled Segway going in circles. Now I could totally understand seeing them use the Segways going up and down the terminals but to see them use it in the check-in area? WTF talk about laziness! First off they look like the handicap police squad with their bike helmets on, no one will take them seriously. Second, what a waste of tax payers money. You figure a normal Segway goes for $3K. Now you add additional features, customization and Segway jacking up their prices to sell them to the Government, I wouldn't be surprised that these don't cost (us)$10K. If you want to make sure none of these "Terrorisers" get on our planes then have some cops with machine guns walking around. Not Timmy the police officer on his little scooter waiting to throw his keys at you!

Paper Jam?

No, not again. I... why does it say paper jam when there is no paper jam? I swear to God, one of these days, I just kick this piece of shit out the window.

This is what I was about to do to our copier/printer at work. Instead I called our help desk support and got to talk to someone in India to have someone in our building fix it. Makes soooo much sense.

The Bad Touch

We (Pete, Anne, Kris, James & I) were watching the Class AA boys finals last night with Edina vs Hill-Murray. It was toward the end of the game and HM scored their 3rd goal of the night. The crowd was pumped up so Mr. Camera guy pans over to the crowd to capture some of the excitement. Then we see IT. After we saw IT we had to think about what we saw and just then I remembered I could rewind live TV. We rewind it and there IT was. We were dieing of laughter! Before I changed the channel I recorded the event on my camera so I could upload it to the interweb for all to see.

Get Well Soon...

Patrick Swayze. Give that pancreatic cancer a round house kick to the face. Road House will never be the same without you. Same with Next of Kin...and To Wong Foo...and Father Hood. Hey Pat, do you realize you have made some shitty movies in the past? Sorry dude Dirty Dancing and Ghost doesn't do it for me. That wasn't even that dirty of dancing. Plus I'm not into the clay pottery like Demi and her sick little ghost fetish. So when you get done beating this cancer to a pulp please make some more bad ass action movies like Point Break & Red Dawn.

"All you have to do is follow three simple rules. One, never underestimate your opponent. Expect the unexpected. Two, take it outside. Never start anything inside the bar unless it's absolutely necessary. And three, be nice."

Midwest & Town Hall

I met up with Kris & Petey last night to carpool to Midwest Mountaineering. It was kind of a last minute thing that Petey posted up. We went and drooled at all of the latest and greatest gear. We are planning to hike some of the Superior Hiking trail early June starting at Crosby Manitou and heading south. I think I'm pretty well set for gear. I just picked up some trekking poles and a new UL pack from REI. Both of which will also come in handy when Aimee and I head to Glacier in August. It should be an interesting hike since I really have never done a backpacking trip before. Kris and I are going to share my Hubba Hubba and with 29 sq.ft there might be some accidental spooning involved.

After our little droolfest at MM we drove over to Town Hall Brewery for a quick drink and a bite to eat. Kris and I had the Spring Fest which did have a small IPA bite to it. I'm not much of a fan of the IPA. Petey had the Black Snow Coffee Porter. I took a little taste of it and it was surprisingly good. Definitely a 1 glass beer but if you like coffee, you will love this porter. I also ordered a bigger basic burger with cheddar and bacon cooked medium/well. Holy cow was that burger gooooood! Probably one of the best burgers I have ever had.
