What I Am Listening To

A Long Day

3:45 am - Wake up. Take a shower and have some breakfast.

4:15 am - Leave for the airport. Aimee half awake in the passenger seat.

4:30 am - Arrive at Lindbergh Terminal. Tired as all hell I now get to take my shoes off to go through the security check point. Success I'm not a threat to national security. They didn't even question to why I had license plates in my bag.

4:45 am - Arrive at my gate. Little early since the plane was to board at 5:30am.

5:40 am - I get to my seat. Middle seat...suck. If you take a Boeing 737 you want seat 9. These are the exit seats over the wings that have all of the leg room.

6:00 am - Take off. I now get to enjoy old man breath from the guy to the left of me. He is enjoying his book while listening to air traffic control at 100bd on the headphones provided by the airline.

7:13 am - Flight lands at Chicago O'Hare International Airport. Call up my brother to pick me up.

7:40 am - Get to my parents house. Get the new (used) Cherokee warmed up. Chat a little with my brother.

8:30 am - Leave Elmhurt, IL for MN.

8:33 am - People from IL drive like maniacs.

10:45 am - Just about to get to Madison and I am craving some Taco Bell for lunch.

10:50 am - I see a Taco Bell sign so I take the next exit. Fricken A! It's a Taco Bell express.

10:53 am - U-turn and get back on I90.

11:30 am - Starving! Get off at a Dells exit. You know the one with the water parks. I begin my search for food.

11:35 am - Culvers it is. Thankfully my stomach agreed with Culvers afterwards.

1:30 pm - 10 miles from Lacrosse and it begins to snow.

2:00 pm - Roads are wicked slick. 45 mph I will go.

2:45 pm - Rochester. Now there is snow and wind. People do not get the hit and at flying by me going 65-70 mph.

3:00 pm - I see these people in the ditch and rolled over in a cornfield. I hope it was worth it.

4:15 pm - I arrive home. Tired! Tired! Tired!.

The Jeep worked awesome and is in great shape. I ordered some new rear leaf springs and I will be bring it back down to the stock height shortly. I also picked up some new wipers and lights. Tomorrow I'm going to head to U-pull in search of some stock rims and misc parts.

BTW I name the new Jeep "Little Red"

We Don't Need No Stinkin' Paper Money

The vending machine company just installed a credit card swiper and pay pass for the vending machines here at work. I have a feeling their business will pick up since a lot of people don't carry cash anymore as we turn into a digital paperless world. I think I'm going to test it out right now.

Speaking of credit cards...why do people still write out check at retail locations? It drives me nuts when I'm behind someone and they break out the ol' check book. I understand maybe writing out a check for a bill to mail-in but come on peeps, get with the times. Step into the NOW. Pretty much every restaurant doesn't take checks these days.

Glacier Here We Come

We are starting to planning our trip to Glacier National Park in August. Currently the only thing we have set in stone is the first 2 nights at Many Glacier Hotel. I have to check into the backcountry permit and sites. We would like to hike to Cracker Lake for the night and also up to Granite Park Chalet for another night. Day hikes to Ice Berg Lake and Hidden Lake are also on the agenda. We were also thinking about some horseback riding but we will have to see if we have enough time.

The last time we went was back in August of 2003, the west side of the park was closed because of wildfires. We managed to do a day hike to Otokomi Lake which is inspiring us to do more backcountry hiking this time around. I'll keep the blog up to date with the planning of this years trip.

Deep Thought By MikeyB

Do you ever like to bite off the head of a Gummi Bear and replace it with a different flavored head? Then it turns into a Robo Gummi Bear that fights crime.

Jeepless

As of 4pm today I am officially Jeepless. It was hard to see it go but it was time. Getting 12 mpg with a daily driver is not very practical. BUT I will not be Jeepless for very long. Next Friday I will be flying out to Chicago to pick up my Brothers Jeep Cherokee. This Cherokee will be staying stock.

Bye, Bye Jeep. Enjoy your new owner & New Jersey.

Hey Foxy Lady!!

We have a Gray Fox (Urocyon cinereoargenteus) living out side our windows at work. Foxy showed up a couple weeks ago spending most of his/her day sleeping in the snow. There was a Eastern Cottontail outside our windows a month ago but I have a hunch that Foxy made a meal out of that wabbit. There are also a lot of plant life for Foxy to feed on and I'm sure he/she will be around until spring.

Random Blogging

Haven't updated the blog this year. So Happy New Year!

Aimee and I joined L.A. Fitness which is a block away from our house. After we joined we were able to recruit some other souls which included James & Liz and Jason & Suzie. Jason and I have gone a couple times to play racquetball and take a dip in the pool. Little sore this morning from last nights racquetball session. Last night the gym seemed pretty busy but I guess you have to expect that on a Monday especially all of the people with new years resolutions to get into shape. Give it a couple months and Monday nights will be dead again.

I need to get out and do some ice fishing. I made a nice sled out of some old skis for my Clam. It took some searching at Menards to come up with a design but I think it will work really nice. No more trying to drag the ice house through the snow. Now I just need to wait for this heat wave to end.
