List Of Lists

Vita.mn users & staff list their picks for the best and worst stuff in the Twin Cities, and the world. So lets take a look at their list and what I think because dammit my opinion counts!

Things I wish the Twin Cities had
1. More light rail
2. Liquor sales on Sunday
3. Liquor on sale in grocery stores
4. An underground subway
5. In-N-Out Burger

Definitely liquor sales on Sunday. Unless you live close to the WI border, nothing is worse than being dry on a Sunday. I can't say I agree with the sale of liquor in a grocery stores just because it's nice to have the selection at a real boozemart. We also need an In-N-Out burger & Sonics for those nights you do Hamms it up.

Best places in the TC for people watching
1. Minnesota State Fair
2. Mall of America
3. Nicollet Mall
4. Skyways
5. Lake Calhoun

The great Minnesota get-together is hands down the best people watching in the TC. Only down fall is it lasting 12 days. Then you go to Lake Calhoun but that's only fun for the summer. For the best year round people watching you go to MOA. I don't know about the skyways, too many freaks hanging out there wanting a dolla' bill.

CDs listened to so often that they need to be replaced

1. "OK Computer," Radiohead
2. "Silent Alarm," Bloc Party
3. "Boys and Girls in America," The Hold Steady
4. "Demon Days," Gorillaz
5. "Ray of Light," Madonna

No CDs for me but my iPod would gets a work out with Radiohead's old stuff and some Gorillaz. Mostly these days I'm listening to The White Stripes, Andrew Bird and Pearl Jam. Madonna? Give me a frickin' break off of that KitKat bar. Dumb.

Best Movies Made in Minnesota

1. "Fargo"
2. "Purple Rain"
3. "Mallrats"
4. "A Simple Plan"
5. "Grumpy Old Men"

If you have a vagina then yes "Purple Rain" will be at the top of your list. But since I have a penis it would be at the end of my list. I would also have to rank "Drop Dead Gorgeous" in the top 5. Not a lot of people like this movie but if you watch it a couple times you start to understand the humor and all the great quotes from it.

Things that defined my childhood

1. Building forts
2. Watching MTV
3. Playing with Barbie dolls
4. Playing Nintendo
5. Playing dress-up
...14. David Bowie's crotch in "Labyrinth"

14 is just plain hilarious. David Bowie sporting the moose knuckle in the Labyrinth. Just about any dude in the 80's got trapped into this fashion thanks to spandex and glam-rock-metal bands like Twisted Sister and Poison. MTV used to be fun when they played videos. Hours and hours of Road Rules and Laguna Beach reruns is NOT Music Television.

Holy crap, I love "Drop Dead Gorgeous". You totally have to be from semi-exurbia (with a kinimum of 1 trailer park in your home town) to get it.
