Time Of Our Lives

Have you seen the new Jeep commercials? There's a pretty good song featured in the commercial. Most of the time it's a pain in the ass to figure out who sings it but a quick Google search solved it quickly. The song is called Time of Our Lives by Paul Van Dyk.

King Bee

Picked up a 2004 Bianchi KingBee from Chris last week. Pete and I went to Terrace Oaks on Sunday morning to test it out. First loop I was sliding around every turn until I remembered that I didn't air down the tires which were at 60psi. 2nd loop was tons of fun. I haven't gone mtn biking on a mtn bike trail in a couple years. It was a lot of fun and it will take some time to get use to trail riding. We are heading over to Harmon Park in Inver Grove Heights tomorrow for a ride. It's going to be a hot one! I'll try to snap some pictures from the ride.

Garage Sale

We just got done with the weekend garage sale. What a success!! Living in the heart of Apple Valley really paid off as we had constant traffic both days. We sold a lot of stuff including most of the large items such as dressers. The rest is going to the Vietnam Veteran Association Aug. 10th. The surprise find of the garage sale, Mike and Cindi brought over a table top Munro National Hockey & Pivot Pool game from the 70's. We sold the Pivot Pool right away for $5 bucks but I decided to put the Hockey Game in the garage and it was a good thing too. I was looking on eBay and these tin Hockey Games were going between $50-$200 bucks! That got me worried that maybe we screwed ourselves selling the Pivot Pool but luckily they only go for $10 on eBay. I just purchased a magnetic puck and control knob off eBay to make it complete.

List Of Lists

Vita.mn users & staff list their picks for the best and worst stuff in the Twin Cities, and the world. So lets take a look at their list and what I think because dammit my opinion counts!

Things I wish the Twin Cities had
1. More light rail
2. Liquor sales on Sunday
3. Liquor on sale in grocery stores
4. An underground subway
5. In-N-Out Burger

Definitely liquor sales on Sunday. Unless you live close to the WI border, nothing is worse than being dry on a Sunday. I can't say I agree with the sale of liquor in a grocery stores just because it's nice to have the selection at a real boozemart. We also need an In-N-Out burger & Sonics for those nights you do Hamms it up.

Best places in the TC for people watching
1. Minnesota State Fair
2. Mall of America
3. Nicollet Mall
4. Skyways
5. Lake Calhoun

The great Minnesota get-together is hands down the best people watching in the TC. Only down fall is it lasting 12 days. Then you go to Lake Calhoun but that's only fun for the summer. For the best year round people watching you go to MOA. I don't know about the skyways, too many freaks hanging out there wanting a dolla' bill.

CDs listened to so often that they need to be replaced

1. "OK Computer," Radiohead
2. "Silent Alarm," Bloc Party
3. "Boys and Girls in America," The Hold Steady
4. "Demon Days," Gorillaz
5. "Ray of Light," Madonna

No CDs for me but my iPod would gets a work out with Radiohead's old stuff and some Gorillaz. Mostly these days I'm listening to The White Stripes, Andrew Bird and Pearl Jam. Madonna? Give me a frickin' break off of that KitKat bar. Dumb.

Best Movies Made in Minnesota

1. "Fargo"
2. "Purple Rain"
3. "Mallrats"
4. "A Simple Plan"
5. "Grumpy Old Men"

If you have a vagina then yes "Purple Rain" will be at the top of your list. But since I have a penis it would be at the end of my list. I would also have to rank "Drop Dead Gorgeous" in the top 5. Not a lot of people like this movie but if you watch it a couple times you start to understand the humor and all the great quotes from it.

Things that defined my childhood

1. Building forts
2. Watching MTV
3. Playing with Barbie dolls
4. Playing Nintendo
5. Playing dress-up
...14. David Bowie's crotch in "Labyrinth"

14 is just plain hilarious. David Bowie sporting the moose knuckle in the Labyrinth. Just about any dude in the 80's got trapped into this fashion thanks to spandex and glam-rock-metal bands like Twisted Sister and Poison. MTV used to be fun when they played videos. Hours and hours of Road Rules and Laguna Beach reruns is NOT Music Television.

Best Buy Charity Classic

I went to the Best Buy Charity Classic last night at the Xcel & River Center. They do a silent & live auction at the River Center before the dinner at Xcel. Unfortunately I haven't won the lottery yet to be able to bid on anything in the auction. I sat with a bunch of Panasonic reps for dinner. They were as exciting as watching paint dry. Luckily I didn't have to talk to them too long before The Dave Matthews Band took the stage. Honestly I'm not a big fan of Dave Matthews but I will listen to their music if it's on the radio. I have to say I was really impressed by how good their live show was. They sounded incredible! Almost forgot, the 2 day Charity Classic raised 2.9 Million dollars!

Sorry for the crappy pics but all I had was my phone.

What I Have Been Drinking

I'm not usually a fan of I.P.A. beer but I figured while I was in WI I would pick up a 6'er of New Glarus's Hop Hearty Ale I.P.A.. I.P.A.'s are rather too bitter for my taste buds. Definitely not the kind of beer I could just sit down and drink one after another. I found the Hop Hearty Ale to be fairly good, little bitter going down but it didn't leave that nasty after taste in your mouth. If you're in WI pick up a 6-pack and give it a try.

That's My Boat...

The new to me boat is now in my hands...well for a couple days. Just to make sure everything was OK with the cooling pump impeller I brought it down to a Marina in Farmington to have it checked out. The impeller is basically the water pump for your boat engine. It sucks in the lake water through the lower unit to cool the engine then spits out a stream of water just below the engine. My Dad and I noticed it wasn't flowing too well at idle so to be on the safe side I wanted to have it checked out and possibly replaced. It's a $30 part but you have to drop the lower unit to get at it and I really didn't want to go there.

The boat is in pretty good shape. It just needs a little TLC cleaning and vacuuming. The best part is I can have 5 people or 900lbs in the boat. That was impossible to do in the old Tuffy boat. We took it out for a spin on Lake Winnebago while we were up in Oshkosh, WI. We do have a slight problem with it fitting in our garage, stupid townhouse garages! We are going to need to do some rearranging and will need to add the break away tongue to the trailer.

This is the only picture I have as of right now. Once I get it back from the marina we'll have to take everyone out for a spin around the lake. And no Jason, I will not trade this bad ass mamo-jama for your tent trailer :P

Home

Aimee and I are home from our trip to Oshkosh, WI to see the family. We went to P.L. tonight to see some fireworks and now we are both tired, it was a long day. If you're lucky I'll post some pictures tomorrow.
