Urban Dictionary Word'O'Day

Urban Dictionary Word'O'Day

1.UFIA
Unsolicited Finger In the Anus. Popularized on the website Fark.com and is a cliche among TotalFarkers. Originated from a news story about a young man who poked his friends in the backdoor with his finger on a high school football bus trip. In the story, the judge is quoted as saying "an unsolicited finger in the anus, while crude, is not criminal".

What should you get your mother for Christmas? Well, I gave her a UFIA.

Edit: Just thought of another one, Alone In The Wilderness DVD.

The Cloud Gate

Last Saturday we went to downtown Chicago to check out Millennium Park to see what everyone calls "The Bean" which is actually called The Cloud Gate. The Cloud Gate is a 110-ton elliptical sculpture made out of stainless steal which reflects the Chicago skyline. Many people call it "The Bean" because it's shaped like a kidney bean. I heard it took countless hours to seamlessly weld the sculpture together so it would have a smooth stainless look. This will soon be Chicago's Spoon & Cherry as we have in Minneapolis. I took a few pictures of the Cloud Gate and posted below this post.

We also decided to check out the shopping situation on Chicago's Magnificent Mile. This stretch of downtown Chicago is filled with shopping centers, acclaimed designers boutiques and dining. The one draw back was it's the Saturday after Thanksgiving so there were thousands of people downtown shopping. You just wanted to start pushing people into traffic. They had all of the trees lit up for the holiday season. We went on a horse carriage ride around downtown since the weather was a beautiful 60 degrees even at 7pm at night. Afterwards we wanted to get some dinner but every place we wanted to eat at was a 2 hour wait, so we decided to wait until we got home and order some Chicago style stuffed pizza from Mimmo's. You know you have yourself a great Chicago style pizza when you start choking on the cheese. Defiantly one of the best pizzas I have ever tasted.

Chicago

Happy late Thanksgiving ya'll!! Yesterday I was ripping my brothers CDs to MP3. I had two laptops ripping at the same time and I only got through 2 out of the 5 boxes. 8GB of great oldies such as Rush, Doors, Whitesnake, U2, Tesla, Skid Row....the list just goes on. I figure I will have close to 20GB of new music after this ordeal. I'm going to have to get a bigger iPod for all this candy for my ears. We are just about to leave to do some shopping so I'll chek ya later.

Chicagoland

Aimee and I are heading over to Chicago tonight to visit with the rents. Road rage will be in full effect as we head out after work on the busiest travel day of the year. The Zoey monster will be along for the ride and she loves to ride in the Jeep. Zoey will probably sleep the whole way there. I also have to pick up some Spotted Cow on the way for my Dad & Bro to try. I get to give my Dad & Bro a one on one lesson on MP3 players. My Bro is going to get out all of his CDs from storage for me to rip so bring on the 80's hair metal! I'll post up some pics from Chicago.

Also Corey to da 'B' Brower has given in to the force of the interweb and now has his own Blog so check it out.

Madtown Hockey Weekend

We (Pete, James, Kris & I) headed out to Madison on Friday to see the Badgers play Denver. To start the trip we had to drive through some crummy snow/ice weather. There were many cars in the ditch and we were all praying that the H-Bomb would not be joining the ditch team. We arrived around 6pm at the Econolodge. As we were waiting for Pete to check us in we noticed on the wall pictures of themed rooms like the Packers room & the Badgers room. Little did we know we had the NASCAR room! This beauty of a room had NASCAR sheets on all 3 beds, little cars on the ceiling fans and NASCAR paraphernalia all over the room. I felt like I was in a 10 year olds room. After settling in we had a few beers each before heading to the bars. James thought it would be a good idea to poor a beer and have the hair dryer blow it in his face. Oh yes I have a video of this. After all the shenanigans we called a Taxi (242-2000) and we were off to the Great Dane Pub & Brewery. We ordered some beers, soft pretzels and Nakoma nachos. I guess the guys really enjoys the pretzels with the gourmet mustards but it was not to my liking. We all experimented with the different beers. I had the Devils Lake Red Lager, Black Earth Porter and some Belgian beer. After some beers we decided to play a few games of billiards. This was a sad site, 4 drunk guys trying to play pool. I think everyone scratched 2 or 3 times. Plus pool cues and drunk guys do not mix, ask Kris.

The next morning everyone felt like ass. Mixing all of the different type of microbrewery beers was not a good idea. Some how James cut himself before going to bed the night before. I guess he fell in the dark and wailed his noggin on the table by the bed so there was a nice bloody towel in the sink to greet me in the morning. We all pulled ourselves together and headed to the mall. After driving around for 40 minutes Pete finally got us to the mall. The mall was packed! After the mall we rested up before heading downtown for the game. The Kohls Center was a pretty nice arena. The game was not so good. We were watching the score of the Gophers game more than the game in front of our faces. Watching the Badgers & Pioneers was like watching a high school game. They both played like shit. The Badgers did come back from being behind by 2 goals to tie it and bring the game in to overtime or as they like to call it in WI, period 4. With 14.6 seconds left in OT the Denver Pioneers scored and the place went silent. You could hear a pin drop. Finally score 4 to 3.

After the game we headed to the Church Key Pub & Grill. All I have to say is Spotted Cow on tap. It was a lot of fun! We played some foosball and just hung out. I have never seen so many North Face jackets in my life than that night. UW must give them away to any new students. I'm not kidding if you want to open up a store in Madison make sure it is a North Face store. It would be a cash cow.

Here is a link to the pictures and some videos.

Hey Mel!

I was just looking at our 11/26 Best Buy insert and saw a Waffle Iron on page 39. It reminded me of the time when you made waffles for us hungry guys and how you got frustrated with your waffle maker. Those waffles were very tasty BTW. Nothing says I love you like a good waffle iron. That's why I'm getting Aimee two. :)

Buck Hill Here I Come!

I took my Skis to Pierce Skate & Ski to have them tuned up and discovered that both of my bindings were broken. The guy said he had never seen a binding do that. So to make a long story short I had to buy new bindings for my downhill skis and it set me back $200 which included the tune up. This year my goal is to go skiing atleast 5 times. It's a sport that I love to do but it is kind of boring if you don't have anyone to hit the slopes with you. I'll drag Aimee to buck hill with me :)

Where to ski in MN & WI?

Andrew Bird

Andrew Bird's album The Mysterious Production of Eggs is just outstanding. What a breath of fresh air this album is. Andrew Bird was the violinist in the band Squirrel Nut Zipper but he is also a songwriter, guitarist, vocalist and whistler. After the band Squirrel Nut Zipper ended he made his own band Andrew Bird's Bowl of Fire which released a few albums and was a similar sound to Squirrel Nut Zipper. Andrew's solo work is more folkish. It reminds me of music you would find in the movie Garden State. Very indie sounding with excellent vocals and melodic sounds. Each song sounds like a orchestrated masterpiece. He currently has 2 solo albums under his belt and a 3rd coming out in Febuary which he is currently recording in Minneapolis. You can also go to his site and order some no-label released work called Fingerlings. It's a collection of live and b-side songs.

Right in the tailpipe!

So...James & I were on our way home today heading down 35w in the carpool lane. We were going about 50-55mph and a Blue & White Taxi decides to pull out infront of us. James slams on the breaks and we end up giving the Taxi a love tap on the left rear bumper, right front bumper of the H-Bomb because James swerved to the left. So there we are sitting there thinking WTF and the Taxi driver gets out of his car with passenger inside (mind you we are stopped in the carpool lane in the middle of rush hour) and James & I are signaling to the Taxi driver, who I will call Derk-derk-Allah, to pull over to the right hand shoulder. He looks at his bumper, then ours and puts both hands up in the air signaling that everything is ok. He said something but all I got out of it was, "Haka sherpa-sherpa. Abaka-la Derka derka derka!". He hops back in the Taxi and keeps driving down the carpool lane. When we got back we took a look at the H-Bomb's bumper which had a pretty good size crack in it. We did get all of the Taxi's information including license plate. We'll have to see if James turns Derk-derk-Allah in.
